Childhood Influenza (Flu) Immunisation Programme 2017
This year the Nasal Flu vaccine is being offered to children in reception, years 1, 2, 3 & 4, and all children under 18 years old in Special Schools in the Autumn Term 2017.
Evidence from the children’s programme indicates that there has been a positive impact on flu levels, both for the vaccinated children and the wider community. This has meant that there has been less illness in the community with fewer GP consultations, hospital admissions and emergency department attendances. Flu vaccination of school aged children also helps to promote a healthy school environment and may reduce absenteeism amongst pupils and staff.
This year we will be working with Vaccination UK, a team with more than 40 years of experience giving vaccinations. They will adhere to the same standards of clinical practice.
A letter will be sent out informing the parents and asking for permission.
