Welcome to Year 3 Redwings
Welcome to Year 3 Redwings! This year is very exciting as the children join KS2.
With our first topic, ‘Through the Ages’ we will rediscover prehistoric Britain from the Stone Age through to the Iron Age. We will learn about writing a short narrative, a fairy tale and a report.
In our second term’s topic, “Rocks, Relics and Rumbles”, we will journey to the centre of the Earth! We will learn about the layers of our planet, types of rocks formed and volcanic (tectonic) activity. Year 3 will have 2 very exciting workshops from Geobus where they will learn all about rocks, fossils, volcanoes and earthquakes- complete with 3D glasses!
Our final term’s topic, “Emperors and Empires” will take us back in time to the start of the Roman Empire. We will venture across the empire into Roman Britain, learning about how the Romans changed life in Britain forever. With this topic, the children will visit the Verulamium in St. Albans.

Key information
Homework is handed out on a Thursday and collected the following Monday.
PE is on a Tuesday and a Wednesday- Children are to come to school in their PE kit.
Reading records are viewed on a Friday to check if children have read their book three times or more.
